The day before my trip to Jamaica I had an event where I volunteered my services. The Orange County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. hosted the 3rd Annual Eminence. The Scholarship Gala is a 'Debut' Ball for young women and men in the Orange county area. Below are a few shots of the room before the evening started.

The honorees were in full formal attire, ladies in white ball gowns and gentleman in full tails. The theme was centered around ancient Egypt and featured a 9 foot pyramid which served as the back drop for the stage. This event featured Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones as the keynot speaker. Congresswoman Jones is the Chair of the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct (Ethics Committee). I was able to talk to her for just a moment as we finalized the details before the program started. It was an honor to meet a woman who is definitely making strides to help our nation be just a little bit better.

Sandals: The Luxury Included Experience!

Well, I am back from Jamaica! What an exciting time. I was priveleged to visit 5 very distinct resorts that couples can visit for their honeymoons. It was truly an experience. I plan on highlighting the different locations, but it is impossible to do that in one post on the blog. I'm going to have to highlight each location seperately.

When one thinks of an all-inclusive vacation, often a cruise ship comes to mind. At other times people may think of a hotel...but when it comes down to the food or the drinks, we automatically dismiss the thought of it being a great selection. We also don't expect sports and activities to be included. Well Sandals surpassed my expectations and definitely raised the bar on what I will demand in the future.

The last few days have definitely been all WORK and play. WOW! Ever since our national conference in Colorodo (2006) I have been Sandals Certified, however, to experience the resort first hand is definitely an eye opening experience. I had a couple in October of 2006 that honeymooned in Jamaica. I remember the conversation I had with the bride when they returned. She said it was an experience and she looked forward to returning. I understand why she felt that way. The experience was definitely a memorable one. Enough talk from me! Enjoy:

Beach Cabanas are available at most resorts. You can even schedule a massage at the cabana.
